JEAN DUBUFFET "SITUATION XXVIII" COLLAGE, 1978PRICE ON REQUEST Jean Dubuffet (1901 1985) took inspiration from the margins of society throughout his career. He coined the term "art brut," and pursued artistic authenticity outside of established conventions, forging a humanistic approach to image making. Dubuffet built a dialogue between his past and future selves, creating work that was both novel and self referential. He was interested in the tactile possibilities of abstraction through texture
